SAFE
by Kimberly C. Jones©
The glint in your eyes
betrays your intentions—
a spark you try to steady,
but it flickers wild
every time our energies brush.
You tell me I’m safe with you…
yet the deep, sultry timbre of your voice
wraps itself around the word
and reshapes it into something far more dangerous,
far more tempting,
far more true.
One glance.
One word.
One touch.
And I feel myself come undone,
slowly, deliberately,
as if you’ve memorized
the rhythm of my unraveling.
Your presence moves toward me
with a quiet certainty—
not forceful,
not hesitant,
but inevitable.
A pull I don’t resist,
a craving I’ve known
long before this moment.
I lift my chin,
and the world stills.
Breath pauses.
Time softens.
Everything narrows to the space between us—
a space trembling with promise.
In that stillness,
I understand myself completely:
the only safety I crave
is the kind found in the danger of your embrace—
the kind that asks me to surrender my guard,
my breath,
my certainty,
and trust the fire you ignite within me.
So come closer.
Let the night hold our secrets.
Let the shadows learn our names.
Let the world fall away
until all that remains is the heat between us—
steady,
deliberate,
and impossible to deny.
